Target Skincare

Hello my name is Timera, and I am delicate flower.  What that means is that I cannot just “rubs the lotion on it’s skin” and be on my merry way.  I have sensitive and temperamental skin, as I may have mentioned in previous posts.  Unfortunately,  I cannot try new skincare products on a whim.  At least not without researching them first, and making sure they are safe for my skin type.  I could, but I don’t really feel like dealing with rashes and/or acne.  Needless to say I have not changed up my skincare routine in a really long time for this very reason.  This fact, in combination with age, has probably led me to my current predicament.

I have been pretty unhappy with my skin as of late. To me, it has been looking really congested and dull.  In additional to congestion and dullness, I have been experiencing a really oily t-zone.  Maybe that has something to do with my skin being dehydrated, maybe it is just because my oily Italian genes decided now was a good time to show up.  Who knows?  And my pores, they are the worst.  I was okay when they really weren’t visible and we went on coexisting pretending one another didn’t exist.  BUT NOW, they have gotten tired of lurking in the shadows and are just out in plain view (ruining my life).  Finally, I decided enough was enough, and stepped out of my comfort zone to try  a couple of new skincare items.

When I say that I stepped out of my comfort zone, what I really mean is that I stepped into my comfort zone.  Otherwise know as Target.  Now, I was already using a face wash from Target, from the Cerave brand.  It did a fine job, and didn’t cause any irritation.  But obviously something needed to change.  La Roche-Posay seemed like the change I needed. I have seen the La Roche-Posay brand in Ulta before, and have always been too afraid to try their products.  However, once I saw that Target carried their Effaclar range, I was more than intrigued.  With a little research I quickly found out that this range is perfectly suitable for sensitive skin.  And none of the reviews I had read online suggested that anyone had an adverse reaction to their products.  I decided at that point the LA ROCHE-POSAY Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel cleanser was a good place to start with my skincare changes.

After a few weeks of using the Purifying Foaming Gel — I can safely report to those of you with sensitive skin concerns — that this cleanser is very gentle.  I have not had any reactions, and have actually been enjoying this product very much.  It is soap free, and claims to help balance skin oiliness. As for the latter claim, I can say that I have noticed a slight change in my oil production.  It’s not a huge change, but hopefully with time it will continue to improve.  I also do think this cleanser, in combination with the next product I am about to talk about, is helping with any breakouts I may get that during that time of the month.  It definitely seems to clear up faster since I have introduced the Purifying Foaming Gel into my regime.

This next product has been raved about in the beauty community for awhile now, and again scaredy-cat Timera was too afraid to ever try it.  Until meow 😹, when the sight of my pores frightened me even more than the thought of a rash or a pimple🙀. The Pixi Glow Tonic is pretty good IMO, so good that I noticed a change in my skin after the first day of use.  My skin already seemed brighter and less congested.  And although my pores are still visible after almost a months time, they have tightened a bit.  The Glow Tonic also has helped take care of some of the dry patches I have on my skin.  I know, how did I get so lucky?  I get to have both oily and dry skin.  YAY!  But in all seriousness, this does contribute to the glow factor.

Prior to using the Pixi Glow Tonic as my toner, I was using a Mario Badescu cleansing lotion that also contained Glycolic Acid.  So my skin was already used to the chemical and I’m pretty sure the percentage contained was very similar.  However, the Mario Badescu toner contained alcohol, which can cause additional dryness and dullness.  As we established earlier, I don’t need additional dullness in my life!  Since switching over to the Glow Tonic though, I have also noticed that I have less redness and my skin tone seems more even.  Best of all, I didn’t have a reaction to the Glow Tonic after using it.

Please let me know if you have tried either of these products and tell me what you think of them?  And if you have similar skin issues, what has worked for you?
